The Clydebank Post has covered our Cape Must Pay! protest at the Rugby World Cup in Paris tomorrow. Read the article here.
We are calling on Altad, the owners of former asbestos manufacturer Cape, to donate £10 million to mesothelioma research.
Mesothelioma is an under-researched cancer caused by asbestos. After a lengthy court battle, we obtained documents proving that Cape hid the true dangers of its asbestos products in the 1960s and 1970s. Many died as a result. We believe Altrad has a moral obligation to donate to research, to put right some of the wrong that has been done.
Altrad is a major sponsor of the Rugby World Cup, and the French and New Zealand rugby teams. Both teams play each other in Paris tomorrow.
We believe that, until Altrad does the right thing, these sponsorship deals are an insult both to the sport and the fans.
