Action Mesothelioma Day 2019

This annual event was inaugurated in 2006 to raise awareness of mesothelioma and to promote an Action Mesothelioma Charter (see below). Each year, on the first Friday in July, events are organized by asbestos victims support groups in cities throughout the UK. Please note, the event in Portsmouth is being held a week early on Friday 28th June.

Birmingham: 1.00 pm Public meeting, prayers and music, followed by refreshments. Midland Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham B12 9QH. Organised by Asbestos Support Central England.

Leicester: 2.00 pm. Reflection and dove release, followed by refreshments. Leicester Cathedral. Organised by Mesothelioma UK.

Cardiff: 2.00 pm. Dove release and public rally followed by refreshments. Cardiff Bay. Organised by Asbestos Awareness and Support Cymru.

Manchester: 12.30 pm Rally and dove release. Barbirolli Square (Next to the Bridgewater Hall). 1.00 – 2.00 pm. Public Meeting. Friends Meeting House, Mount Street, Manchester M2 5NS (near Town Hall). Organised by Greater Manchester Asbestos Victims Support Group.

Derbyshire: 10.00 am – 1.30 pm Speeches including Campaigning updates and Forum Campaign, poetry reading, optional 1 mile walk, lunch and entertainment. The Whitworth Centre, Station Road, Darley Dale, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 2EQ. Organised by Derbyshire Asbestos Support Team

Portsmouth: 12.00 noon FRIDAY 28TH JUNE (PLEASE NOTE DIFFERENT DATE TO OTHER EVENTS) Butterfly release, raffle and buffet. The Inn Lodge, Burrfields Road, Portsmouth PO3 5HH. Organised by HASAG Asbestos Disease Support.

Liverpool: 11.30 am – 3.00 pm. Public meeting; Dove Balloon release and refreshments,  The Racquet Club, Chapel Street, Liverpool.  Organised by Merseyside Asbestos Victims Support Group and Cheshire Asbestos Victims Support Group.

Sheffield: 11.00 – 1.00. Commemorative name reading followed by meeting with speakers, and  Sheffield Socialist Choir, refreshments and buffet lunch. Sheffield Cathedral, Church Street, Sheffield. Organised by South Yorkshire Asbestos Victims Support Group.

Newton Aycliffe. 11am-2pm. Dove release, guest speakers, afternoon tea and raffle  Redworth Hall Hotel, Surtees road, Newton Aycliffe, Dl56NL. Organised by ReadleyMKMRF and Mesothelioma UK
