Report: Cape Must Pay! protest in Warrington, Monday 17th July 2023

On 17th July 2023, asbestos victims & anti-asbestos campaigners gathered outside the Cape /Altrad office in Warrington to demand £10 million for mesothelioma research.

Cape was a major asbestos manufacturer. It is now owned by Altrad. After a lengthy court battle, we obtained documents showing that Cape hid the true dangers of its asbestos products in the 60s and 70s. Many died of asbestos diseases like mesothelioma as a result. Thousands still die from asbestos disease in the UK every year.

We are calling on Cape to donate £10 million to mesothelioma research, to put right the wrong they have done.

Research into mesothelioma has always been under-funded. Mesothelioma remains a disease that is always fatal. With enough funding for research, it could become a disease that can sometimes be cured.
