46 MPs sign Early Day Motion on Cape Must Pay!

Huge thanks to the 6 MPs who recently signed Early Day Motion 93 (tabled 23rd May 2022) in support of our campaign to get Altrad, the owners of former asbestos manufacturer Cape, to donate £10 million to mesothelioma research: Chris Law MP, Anne McLaughlin MP, Richard Thomson MP, Patricia Gibson MP, Amy Callaghan MP, and Dr Philippa Whitford MP.

46 MPs have now signed Early Day Motion 93. The motion can be viewed here

Mesothelioma is an under-researched cancer caused by asbestos. There is currently no cure, and funding for research into new treatments has lagged behind that for other cancers.

Documents obtained after a lengthy court battle show that Cape hid the true dangers of its asbestos products in the 1960s and 1970s. Had they revealed what they knew, we believe regulation of the use of asbestos would have been made tougher, and asbestos would have been banned in the UK much sooner. Many died because Cape withheld this information.
