It is with great sadness that the Forum reports the recent death of Mr Bill Lawrence, a tireless campaigner for the safety and health of workers, particularly with regards to the ongoing risks posed by asbestos. Our deepest condolences go out to all those who knew and loved him, of which there were many.

Bill was a trade union health and safety activist for so many years, one of organisers of the 2000 Hazards Conference in Durham, and more recently Secretary of the Construction Safety Campaign. He was a strong supporter of the work of Laurie Kazan Allen at International Ban Asbestos secretariat.

Bill’s funeral will be at 1.30pm on 26th November 2021 at Our Lady and St Columba’s Church (Carville Road, Wallsend, NE28 6RJ).
